Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering – Université Laval
David joined Pyrotech BEI as a forensic expert in mechanical engineering. A member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, he holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Université Laval. He also completed specialized training in hybrid and electric systems at Weber State University (Utah, United States), further strengthening his ability to analyze incidents involving emerging technologies and complex propulsion architectures.
In his role, David conducts forensic engineering mandates in which he examines mechanical failures, analyzes damaged equipment, and determines the probable origin of an incident. He stands out for his ability to clearly and rigorously communicate his findings—a highly valued skill among claims adjusters, insurers, and lawyers.
David works mainly in the following sectors, which constitute the core of his expertise:
- Heavy vehicles and road equipment
- Heavy machinery and industrial mechanical systems
- Building mechanics (HVAC, technical systems, specialized equipment)
- Fires involving mechanical components or electromechanical systems
Before entering the field of forensic engineering, David spent several years in the optics and photonics industry, working in continuous improvement and research & development roles.
Outside of his professional activities, David pursues various passions: hockey, golf, physical training, and backcountry skiing. He also has a strong interest in gardening and enjoys self‑directed learning. Naturally curious, he likes to understand how objects, systems, and phenomena work—whether in engineering or other fields.
