On March 11, Pyrotech BEI took part in the annual fundraising event organized by the Association of Women in Insurance of Montreal (AFAM). Presented under the theme Casino Royale, the evening brought together professionals from the insurance sector along with their partners.
As a Prestige Sponsor, Pyrotech BEI is proud to support an initiative that, year after year, helps women in vulnerable situations.
Our team was proudly represented by Brandon Rowen, Vice President of Operations and Physical Engineer; Karine Venne, Director of the Materials and Chemistry Department, Chemist, and Immediate Past President of AFAM; Mathieu Bellavance, Director of the Mechanical Department and Engineer; and Christian Charest, Director of Business Development.
A Unifying Event for the Insurance Community
Held annually, the AFAM fundraiser is an important gathering for stakeholders in the insurance world. It provides a space where professionals from various backgrounds can meet, exchange ideas, and contribute to a cause that directly supports women facing difficult circumstances.
The 2026 edition featured a structured program including a welcome reception, dinner, and thematic activities inspired by the casino world. The Casino Royale theme added a distinctive visual dimension while remaining aligned with the purpose of the event: creating a warm, engaging environment that fosters participation and community mobilization. Congratulations to Nancy D’Amour, Mara Stancana, and the entire AFAM team for a perfectly orchestrated evening—festive, elegant, and committed.
When an Entire Industry Bets on Solidarity
This collective effort raised $16,500, which was donated to three organizations supporting women facing a range of challenges.
The funds were distributed among:
- Le Chaînon, which provides shelter, safety, and support
- Women’s Centre of Montréal, which promotes personal, social, and professional autonomy
- WICC Québec (Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade Canada), which supports oncology research
These organizations play an essential role in the community by offering tailored services and tangible support to women living complex realities.

A Space for Cross‑Disciplinary Exchange
Beyond the fundraising aspect, the evening allowed participants from a variety of fields—insurance, engineering, technical expertise, claims management, and prevention—to connect in an informal setting. These discussions help foster a deeper understanding of the realities of each field, particularly in cases where multiple areas of expertise must work together.
